Monday, January 26, 2009

One hundred and sixty nine government primary school students who achieved five 'A's in their Primary School Evaluation Examination (PSR) last year received congratulatory prizes and trophies from the Primary Education Section of the Schools Department, Ministry of Education.

Permanent Secretary (Core Education/Pendidikan Teras) of the Ministry of Education, Datin Paduka Dyg Apsah bte Hj Abdul Majid said the excellent results obtained by the students are the beginning of quality education as a supplement towards one's development physically, spiritually, socially and intellectually in the long term.

"We also hope that you (students) will continue to strive towards excellence until the time comes for you to contribute and become useful for the people, religion and nation in the future," the Permanent Secretary said in a ceremony at the International Convention Centre.

She said education can ensure a quality and dynamic life and teachers must possess a positive attitude, confident, proactive and innovative in giving their efforts with high responsibility and commitment.

"This is one of the most important aspects because the community views teachers' profession and appearance based on their skills and the ability to think, communicate and interact with students, parents and the community, in the many possible situations that they may encounter," she said.

Datin Paduka Dyg Apsah presented the prizes to the students, and to other categories recognised during the ceremony. They included 25 schools which achieved 100 per cent pass rate, and 55 schools with 80 per cent pass rate and 5'A' results.
