Running Records
= runs to test the fluency/phrases/accuracy/error rate of the Ss...

What's needed?
A text (not more than 100words) & Record sheet.

First, introduce the title and highlights the Proper Nouns / Pronouns in the text followed by brief orientation of what the text is all about.

E.g :
We will read about Red Riding Hood. She is a girl who likes wearing red clothes. She is living with her grandmother in the forest. I dont remember the details....

Now, Take the running record.
1. Note : Fluency / Phrases
2. Ask : Comprehension Qns (at least 3 qns)
3. Calculate : Accuracy of Reading.
4. Analyse : Meaning/Semantic Grammar/Visual Graphological Process..

The whole assessment will shows the area of strengths and weaknesses of the Ss itself. Thanks to Mr Stephen Graham for the brilliant interesting workshop.

Robotic Olympiad

Our Robotech Team went home dgn tangan kosong………. Aaahhhhh!!! Bt its ok, try again next year. Our robot only managed to score 10 points as a whole…its an ok achievement tho compare to sm who doesn’t even score anything..oops…but still, we need to work hard next year to gain a place n beat those yg balik2 manang….haha…

I shud mentioned here…only few Primary Schools frm Bandar Zone joined this competition…and only 2 schools from Brunei I Zone participated in the event. So, big big credit for the participation and the efforts!

On the 27th August, we have in-house workshop counducted by Cg Marlina & Cgu Diana entitled ‘High Speed Maths’. They had workshop based on the same title few weeks beforehand at SR Rimba (f m nt mstaken).


It was a very interesting, useful, fun workshop and few methods were being shared that
afternoon. Few of us who admitted being helpless in maths not me..not you…and you and you..so, nobody la!! even managed to complete the short test given. Hehee… thank u..thank u facilitators...

Pesta Sukan Kebangsaan has ended yesterday...

This is our school athletes achievement...

1) Siti Radhiah Abdullah 2nd place in Badminton Single Perempuan.
2) Nur Suzira Bte Izlin 2nd place in 100m Olahraga Perempuan.
3) Asmaul Al-Husna Bin Ramani 2nd place in Lompat Jauh Lelaki
4) Netball team won 4th place..

It was stated that SRPU sents the most athletes among all Brunei I schools i.e 18 athletes. Congratulation!! :) The guest of honour yesterday was also very proud of Ss achievement as a whole.

Reminder :
The next Olympic game... Pesta Sukan will be on 2010 so all juniors were asked to be prepared mentally n physically from now on...

Diagnostic Assessment workshop for SPN21

The launching ceremony of the National Education System for the 21st Century (SPN21) Diagnostic Assessment workshop on three core subjects (English Language, Science and Mathematics) for Primary Five, Six and Year Seven and Year Eight teachers was held by the Ministry of Education yesterday at the Rizqun Hotel, Gadong.

Present as the guest of honour was Hajah Norjum binti Haji Mohd Yusop, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education.

The ceremony began with the opening remarks by Hajah Donnaliza binti Abdullah Puasa, the Head of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Education who was also the deputy chairperson of the workshop, followed by a speech by the guest of honour.

Expert trainers from the Lead Consultant Optimise International, Australia, will facilitate the workshop that would be held for six days at the Institute Technology Brunei (ITB) starting on August 25.

One of the facilitators of the workshop, Mr Brian Galbraith, the Executive Director of Lead Consultant Optimise International, Australia also delivered the overview of the workshop to the participants at yesterday's event.

The workshop aspires to equip the teachers with the necessary diagnostic assessment tools, management and implementation in reinforcing their knowledge of the unique needs of individual students and the direct overall classroom instruction, which would be conducted prior to and during the teaching and learning process.

Temperature 32oC

(Forgive me for the title above..)

The heat was so unbearable.....! But we're so lucky and the kids shud be thankful as teachers had reminded them to bring pre-caution gears a.k.a umbrella (ela...ela...eh eh.... hee) , cap, kiap... extra drinks etc....

poor Ss who were sitting at the back...they were so extremely exposed to the heat...

It was really2 hot (repeatedly complained by all...) that all of us especially students had started to lose their concentration. We kept our eyes on the Ss making sure they are still on their tip-top conditions.

The Ss who turned out for the event were around 35+ only with 3 buses provided. Primary 4 & Primary 5 Ss joined the crowd from 1.30 - 4.30pm.


We didnt watched the actual Finale... as it was raining and we need to get back to the school by 4.30pm. As a whole, it was fun and such a hot hot day...

Badminton to the final..

Hari ini berlangsung Pertandingan Badminton Separuh Akhir (pagi) dan Peringkat Akhir (petang). Wakil Sekolah, Radiah Bte Abdullah bermain pada peringkat separuh akhir pada pagi ini dan berjaya memasuki peringkat Akhir petang ini. Beliau akan menemui pemain daripada SR Sengkurong.

ASEAN Celebration Pt II.

More than 40 Ss get to dress up with their favorite ASEAN outfits..among the outstanding costumes was from Suku Kaum Iban, Puak Dusun, Cambodian, Chinese costumes etc... visit our album for more sight-proof details... :)

The Ss also have their own Best Costumes Competition by level. Havent get the full result on my hand yet...but among the winners are Diana Nursyazwani, Adealisa, Nur Rianah, Zakwan, Amalina, Evy.... ok, there were more than 15 winners...i really need to double check their name....do come back for the updates ok.

ASEAN Celebration..

Phew...what a day!!

It was then followed up by a catwalk show from all the teachers with their own ASEAN costumes. They get to promote themselves with their ID numbers where Ss get to vote their fave. outfits. Contestants/teachers involved:

National Sports Festival 2008.

Kira-kira 3,000 atlet dari pelajar dari 125 buah sekolah rendah seluruh negara dijangka akan terlibat di Pesta Sukan Sekolah-Sekolah Rendah Kali Pertama 2008 yang akan diadakan pada 18 hingga 24 Ogos ini.

Perkara tersebut dijelaskan oleh Pengarah Pendidikan Kokurikulum, Awang Arshad bin Adis pada Sidang Akhbar mengenai pesta sukan berkenaan yang diadakan di Jabatan Penerangan.

Kejohanan itu bertujuan untuk meningkatkan usaha sama dan persefahaman di kalangan pegawai-pegawai di Jabatan Pendidikan Kokurikulum dengan guru-guru di sekolah rendah, persatuan-persatuan sukan kebangsaan dalam memaju dan meningkatkan mutu sukan negara, di samping sebagai galakan dan dorongan kepada semua lapisan masyarakat terutama para ibu bapa ke arah mendorong anak-anak mereka bergiat aktif dalam sukan. Orang ramai adalah dialu-alukan untuk datang menyaksikan dan memberi sokongan dalam menjayakan dan memberi semangat kepada atlet muda untuk bertanding.

Next week the 19th, school will have our ASEAN Celebration (refer previous post..) and tasks have been distributed among teachers... and we get to handle the Jangan Lupa Lirik segment Aznil, Tom Tom Bak team and Astro team will be there as well...come, join the crowd!! the Brunei version... eh..i should say Brunei ASEAN version...

So, we are currently downloading and listening as many ASEAN folk songs as possible and try to learn their national languages as well...so far, Sawadikappp, Kapkunkap, Mabohay... slow development eh . To give u a hint on how we're doing it, my dear readers...hereby :) i upload 1 cannot many-many mah...nanti u easily win the game... 1 video for this segment... memorize the lyric ok... hehe...

School 14th..

Few things happened on Thursday..started normally with the recitation of Surah Yaasin separately by the Upper Primary Level in the hall and the Lower Primary Level at their respective classes...and ofcourse led by the teachers.

Netball team had their practice today for few times; early in the morning, during the recess & after the recesS. Ofcourse we aiming for something big for their match on Saturday 16th August. Wish you the best, girls! Here's photo of the coachs & import players... as i've posted the netball players before..so, now its coachs turn! Keep the ball rolling!!


There was also this Demonstration for Cara-Cara Penanaman Pokok Buah-Buahan Tempatan done by Cikgu Zian & Cikgu Nani (assisted by Maci' Linda) at the openspace near the jetty (??). Demo was attended by more than 40 selected Ss (click here for more details...).

Btw, teachers also have the opportunity to have their own local fruit plants soon... forms are being distributed at the moment. Different mukim will have their different fruit plants.. e.g: Bengkurong it is not a mukim tho..i noe.. get Asam aur-aur, Tutong will get Tarap, Belait will have their Durian Pulu...etc....

Dua orang guru sekolah ini (Cikgu Ampuan Nornani & Cikgu Norazian) telah mengikuti Kursus Asas Penanaman & Pemeliharaan Pokok Buah-Buahan Tempatan Bagi Guru-Guru Sekolah Menengah & Rendah pada Bulan Mei yang lalu. Sehubungan dengan itu, satu projek penanaman pokok-pokok buah-buahan tempatan tersebut telah dilaratkan kepada sekumpulan murid-murid yang terpilih di setiap sekolah yang terlibat.

Antara objektif bagi projek ini ialah bagi memupuk kesedaran & mendidik generasi baru mengenai kepentingan pemeliharaan (conservation) pokok buah-buahan asli tempatan.

Sambutan Hari ASEAN di Sekolah Rendah Pusar Ulak...

Dengan penuh hormat dimaklumkan pada 8hb Ogos 2008 merupakan Sambutan Hari ASEAN bagi semua Negara ASEAN yang terdiri daripada B_________, C_________, I_______, L_____, M_________, My_________, P_______________, S___________, T________ dan Vietnam.

Sehubungan dengan itu, sekolah ini akan menganjurkan Pertandingan Pakaian Tradisional Negara-Negara ASEAN yang dibukakan kepada semua murid-murid yang ingin menyertai pertandingan berkenaan pada 19hb Ogos 2008. Hadiah-hadiah setentunya bukan tiket penerbangan.... akan diberikan kepada pelajar-pelajar yang menunjukkan pakaian, penampilan dan gaya yang terbaik.

Two of our teachers (Mariana & Raney) atended the Oxford Reading Tree workshop last Saturday at the Mabohai Primary School. Few pointers that we would like to share...

Ways of introducing characters in reading text:
i. Show the pictures.
ii. Family Tree Diagram.

* its very helpful to have extension activity about the storybook...

- always differentiate the soft & hard sounds (k - g, t - d, p - b...)

Chess Tournament.

The Brunei-Muara District Chess Championship Excecutive Committee going to organise an Age Group Chess Tournament in conjunction with HM Sultan's 62nd Birthday celebration today at the Goldstone Ballroom on the seventh floor at The Centrepoint Hotel, Gadong. For more reports, please click here.

They are currently promoting their Koleksi VCD Pendidikan & Panduan Agama Islam. A lot of us were interested although the price were quite ehem... . Somehow, we thanked school as they purchased it.... relief... and now teachers..you can start taking turns watching the vcd's... hey! hey! don't forget 2nd Assessment is coming soon...lots of revision to do!!
